Above the fold - it is the top part of the Web page that is visible without scrolling.
Ad space - the space on a Web page available for advertisements.
Acquisition cost - money invested in a business to gain customers
Affiliate - The person that is associated in the marketing relationship
Affiliate Marketing - a merchant website paying commissions to other website that directs customers to their site.
Affiliate merchant - person in a affiliate marketing relationship that advertises their website
Application service provider - provider of computer-based services to customers in the internet
Auto responder - a computer program that sends an email response to incoming emails.

B2B - business to business
B2C - business to consumers
Bandwidth - rate of data transfer in a communications channel, measured in kilobits per second (kbps).
Banner ad - form of advertising on the web by embedding the ad in the webpage
Blog - website of an individual that posts regular articles, images or videos
Bookmark - a locally stored URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) in a Web browser that is used for future reference.
Browser - software application that presents or retrieve information in the web
Burstable bandwidth - allows websites to expand network capacity to handle peak usage.

Cascading style sheets (CSS) - a style sheet language that is used to separate style from structure on Web pages.
Click-through - the process of clicking through an online advertisement on a website
Click-through rate (CTR) - number of click-through per hundred ad impressions, expressed as a percentage to measure success of ad campaign
Cookie - small string of text stored on a computer by a Web site so preferences are remembered on future requests.
Cost-per-action (CPA) - online advertising payment model in where advertiser based payment solely on qualifying actions linked thru an ad
Cost per click (CPC) - the payment of advertiser to each click-through on their ad
CPM - commonly used measurement in advertising where the payment is on cost per thousand impressions.
Customer acquisition cost - the cost associated with convincing a customer to patronize a product or service in the net

Data transfer - The total amount of information from a website that is downloaded and typically measured in gigabytes (GB).
Dedicated hosting - a client dedicating an entire server to the client's websites.
Deep linking - hyperlink that points to a page other than a site's main home page.
Description tag - a tag used by Web page creator to describe search engine listings.
Domain name - label to identify the location of an entity on the Internet.

Email - system of sending computer-based messages over telecommunication technology.
Email marketing - form of direct promotion of products or services via electronic mail.
Email spam - junk electronic mail

Flash - multimedia platform created by Macromedia to allow interactivity to fit in a file with a small size
Forum - an online discussion site where web surfers may read and post common topics
Frames - a structure dividing a Web page into two or multiple parts.

Home page - the Main webpage
HTML banner - a banner ad using HTML elements

Inbound link - a link displayed on your site coming from another site

JavaScript - a scripting language made by Netscape used to create website

Link checker - tool that is used to check broken hyperlinks.
Log file - files recording web server activity

Marketing plan - written document containing details of action to attain marketing objective

Navigation - movement from one web page to another

Outbound link - linking your site to a site from outside

Pay per click (PPC) - online advertisement model where payment is based on click-throughs.
Pay per lead (PPL) - online advertising payment model where payment is based on qualifying leads.
Pay per sale (PPS) - online advertising payment model in which payment is on sales.
Payment threshold - minimum commission that a marketing affiliate must earn to get payment from an affiliate program.

Search engine - tool designed for easy and convenient searching or browsing of info on the web
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)- the process of improving volume or traffic to a website ensuring that the site places well when those keyword phrases are part of a Web search.
Super affiliate - an affiliate generating a considerable percentage of an affiliate program's activity.

Two tier affiliate program - program where affiliates earn commissions on their conversions of webmasters they refer to the program.

URL - resource location in the net

Web design - selecting available components to layout and structure web pages
Web directory - listings of Web sites.
Web site traffic - the amount of web surfers visiting a website.
